Random customer reviews : Travelled to the former Yugoslavia for an abortion of a trip. People traveling were a mixture of stupid, rude or crude. Personal effects of minimal value vanished during brief trips on the bus. The local restaurants were a mixture of poor food or improper hygiene. There was a minimum of friction admittedly because certain alpha males or females…scroungy looking people…..kept cutting the lines. And everyone was too embarrassed to say anything.Do the right thing and check out non cutthroat tours…pay for the service and avoid people who belong more in a police lockup than a tour bus. also, the political situation there was horrendous: we had to go through more stupid checkpoints…some twice….than it was worth.I want you to know that I never give negative workups so this is fervent. Some negative reviews : Please be warned, this company was not helpful when we were stranded, they would not help us meet up with the tour group after our fights were cancelled, they wanted us to deal directly with the airlines even though we were having so many problems rebooking two consecutive cancelled flights. They seemed really helpful when we were buying the tour and answered all our questions, seemed friendly, BUT, once we set off on our trip they were very unhelpful when we encountered problems. Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. Please do your research before booking with any travel company, especially this one. We ended up canceling our dream Italy vacation because of their lack of help when we needed them most, fortunately we bought our own insurance so we got our money back, but our other family members who did make it on the trip said the accommodations and meals were sub-par, and they felt ripped off. Beware.

Some positive reviews : Four of us scheduled a 5 day three night tour to Rome, Italy. We flew out of LAX to FCU on Delta. Related: Gate1travel – Gate1 11 day Venice, Florence, Rome, Sorrento Italy Tour was outstanding. We did not expect much because the cost even with adding all possible options was the lowest available we could find. The rooms were in a hotel called The Grand Hotel Palatino with breakfast buffet included. The hotel was within walking distance to the Colosseum and Trevi Fountain. All the day tours were well organized. We were routinely ushered in passed waiting lines and entered sites without delay. Transportation was efficient and dependable. This was ten years ago. Today I am shopping for a tour again. So of course I am looking at Gate 1 Travel.
