A few recommendations to correctly ride the inflatable stand up paddle board. Even if your home doesn’t have much space for inflatable SUP storage, an iSUP can be packed into it’s roller backpack that fits just about anywhere from the trunk of your car to your closet shelf. It’s OK to store your SUP inflated. Many paddlers wonder; is it ok to leave an inflatable paddleboard inflated? OR, how long can I leave an inflatable SUP inflated? As long as it’s out of direct sunlight, you can leave your iSUP inflated indefinitely. There are a few points to remember. Resist the temptation to stack things or place heavy objects on it. Over time, storing heavy objects on your board could cause a divot or impact the rocker of your board. Also, if you’re storing your board inflated for the long-term, it’s best to release a few PSI just in case your storage area gets too warm. That helps to prevent any damage to the board from the air inside expanding beyond the desired PSI.

10’ – 10’6” length boards are great for novice and intermediate riders up to 200 lbs. Boards this length tend to have a displacement of 170-190 liters, and will be very stable for people in this weight class. Heavier people can ride this board, but it will be less stable. 11’ – 11’6” length boards are great for novice and intermediate riders up to 220-230lbs. Boards this length tend to have a displacement of 205-225 liters, and will be very stable for people in this weight class. Heavier people can ride this board, but it will be less stable. If you are a novice rider, and weigh more than 250 lbs, you don’t necessarily need a longer board; you just need one with more displacement. Look for one that is wider than the standard 32” width.

Sun and fresh air: There’s a lot to be said for simply being out in the fresh air. The air around water, particularly the sea, is a lot fresher than it is in towns and cities, so you immediately feel the benefit of being out on your SUP. Fresher air is good for your heart, lungs and your immune system. It also gives you a bit of a feel good kick too. That’s not all you get from being outside. The sun is a natural source of vitamin D, and with modern hectic lifestyles, this is becoming increasingly important. Being stuck in an office all day, then going home in the dark, you won’t get the benefit of much sunlight. Without Vitamin D you will feel tired, you will be more susceptible to muscle aches and pains and it can even cause depression.

Inflatable stand up paddle boards are way more fun than other types of water sports as they offer a personalised yet thrilling experience of paddling to adventure lovers. It allows you to have fun on the water and get a full-body workout because moving your SUP paddle board with the paddle requires your whole body to exercise. Moreover, it allows you to operate the inflatable paddle board while standing, which provides you with a different type of walking on the water kind of experience. You can see and take all those shots of the sun which are impossible to capture from the shore.

An extra inflatable stand up paddle board tip: Paddling with your core: I.E. Don’t use your arms. This may sound a little weird at first but paddling is best done by your core. These are the strongest muscles of your body and provide the most effective power for your paddle stroke. Standing up tall and using just your arms to paddle, will be very tiring and you won’t get much power. Watch this video for more on paddle technique: Stand up paddle board basics – Using Your Core.
