Meet Jonathan Brightman and some of his thoughts? What inspires you to write? Jonathan Brightman: I get inspired by seeing other great bands. We write together as a band. That’s really fulfilling. Collaboration is much more fun. After all this time, do you still keep up to date, with what Buckcherry are doing? Jonathan Brightman: Actually, I heard one of their new songs on satellite radio recently. I think they released a few records after my departure. But the song was really good. Everything was in key.

Jonathan Brightman and Buckcherry: Josh Todd grew up in the Anaheim Hills neighborhood of Anaheim, California and later moved to Lake Forest, California. Early on, Todd fronted the Hollywood glam rock band Slamhound. He eventually met lead guitarist Keith Nelson through their tattoo artist (Kevin Quinn). The duo made a few demos before being joined by bassist Jonathan Brightman and drummer Devon Glenn, calling themselves Sparrow. Sparrow began performing around the Hollywood club scene, receiving a strong, local following due to their old school rock and roll vibe, and were signed to DreamWorks Records shortly after. The group changed its name to Buckcherry after receiving a cease-and-desist letter from a record label called Sparrow (owned by EMI). Although the band’s name is a spoonerism of the late Chuck Berry, the group said it was inspired by a drag queen acquaintance of theirs named Buck Cherry.

Black Robot is a California-based hard rock band formed in 2008 by bassist Jonathan Brightman (JB). The band released their first music video for the JJ Cale classic “Cocaine” on May 5, 2010,[4] debuting it exclusively on top rated gaming website IGN.com. The video features a comical cameo appearance by former The Kids in the Hall and NewsRadio star Dave Foley and was filmed at the legendary burlesque club Jumbo’s Clown Room.[5] A commercial for the debut album featuring outtakes from the video aired exclusively during episodes of VH-1 Classic’s That Metal Show.

The reason Yogi and Devon aren’t on the record is because Yogi went on tour with Chris Cornell and couldn’t be at two places at the same time, he needed to work and I couldn’t say don’t take the gig. Devon had gotten married and started his own business; his priorities in his life were different. I understood where he was coming from. It came down to this — they weren’t in a place to do it and I couldn’t wait until they could, or would, do it. I needed to make this record. I’ll clarify, this was a vision that was Huck’s and mine. This wasn’t going to be a band, we needed to get these song recorded and if it was good we’d release them.

Given that extremely high and low frequencies stand out more when we listen to loud sound effects, we can create the impression of loudness at lower listening levels by attenuating the mid-range and/or boosting the high/low ends of the spectrum. On a graphic EQ, it would look like a smiley face, which is why producers talk about ‘scooping the mid-range’ to add weight and power to a mix. This trick can be applied in any number of ways, from treating the whole mix to some (careful) broad EQ at mixdown/mastering to applying a ‘scoop’ to just one or two broadband instruments or mix stems (i.e. the drums and guitars submix). As you gain experience and get your head around this principle (you might even already be doing it naturally), you can build your track arrangements and choices of instrumentation with an overall frequency dynamic – right from the beginning.

Of course, there’s nothing stopping you from slightly delaying one side of a real stereo sound. For example, you might want to spread your ethereal synth pad to epic proportions. Just be aware, however, that you’ll also be making it that much more ‘unfocused’ as well. For pads and background guitars though, this is often entirely appropriate. As you play with the delay time setting, you’ll notice that too-short delays result in a pretty nasty out-of-phase sound. Meanwhile, too-long delays will break the illusion, and you’ll start to hear two distinct and separate sounds. You’re looking for something in between, which will sound just right and help you catch the space you want. Remember: The shorter the delay time, the more susceptible the sound is to unwanted comb filtering when the channels are summed to mono. You should be smart when recording “found” sounds. Most of the time these sounds will come from the outside world versus digital sources. You will need to grab your keys and get out there to search for that sound you need. You will need to record smartly using a field recorder and some tricks. When you record your sounds be aware of ambient noise. Sometimes this noise can be preferred and may add character to your sound. In most cases, the frequencies that this noise occupies will need to be edited out or avoided altogether. This is especially important when recording multiple sounds from one area. You may wish to layer these sounds when you get back to your studio. You’ll notice that when you start layering, all of that noise adds up quickly. Remember to note and label all your sounds to avoid double work.

Mocienne Petit Jackson discusses her new book on being the daughter of Michael Jackson? Mocienne Petit Jackson’s (Michael Jackson’s daughter) books are now available in Portuguese! Part two of the three-part autobiography of Mocienne Petit Jackson starts with an extended description of the kidnapping of Mocienne and her life in The Netherlands. Subsequently we read how her life turned out with her adoptive family – where she and her cousin Delivrance stayed. Gradually she discovers that her real father is Michael Jackson. At the age of 15 she left her adoptive family, lived at a boarding school for 4 years and then got a place of her own. We follow her throughout the time when she passed through her teenage years and entered maturity – which was not always easy. Mocienne meets a man who she has a child with. Ms Jackson also claims that her father had a tendency to exhibit unusual behaviour which she believes may have arisen from the knowledge that he had kept his daughter in secret since the age of seventeen years. Michael Jackson allegedly did not discuss the topic openly because it was difficult and frightening for him to come to terms with.

Ms Jackson believes that such misinformation has poorly informed the public both about her relationship to Michael Jackson, and about her motives for having taken the matter to court. Her autobiographical series, Thriller, documents her life and gives her assessment on the state of affairs. Additionally, due to the fact that her aunt Diana Ross has declined to provide the press with comment regarding Michael Jackson since his death, Ms Jackson believes that crucial insights about the story are being concealed from the public. She asserts that the stories which had been published in late-2010 in light of the case have had a damaging effect on her reputation and on her business operations, and she expresses her belief that some measure of responsibility ought to be taken for the detrimental effects that being in the media spotlight can have on one’s repute. Now, admittedly, it’s child’s play to see the flaws and nitpick this release from here until the next one. (Oh, don’t deny it…you know it’s coming.) However, the real joy is hearing Michael Jackson on something that isn’t “Beat It” or “Heal the World” or something we’ve all spun thousands of times, especially over the past year. While nothing on this record comes close to rivaling any of his past material, you can’t deny the urge to indulge yourself in something labeled, “new Michael Jackson”, and that’s where Michael succeeds. In terms of lasting power, however, you’ll probably forget about it in a matter of weeks, but who knows? Maybe you’ll feel nostalgic again. After all, that’s what death does to the best of us. Still, as we learned with Invincible, it takes more than just a studio effort to conjure up the magic.

At 10 years old, I assumed the video was shot somewhere in Egypt, because even though I no longer believed in bullshit like Santa Claus, I still accepted Michael Jackson at face value. Besides, nothing else he did seemed like it operated under any budgetary constraint. Only about a year ago did I learn that it was shot at Mack Sennett Studios in Silver Lake, a soundstage across the street from my apartment that I’d obliviously walked past thousands of times. It was one of those depressing realizations that makes much less sense than believing that Michael Jackson built a time machine and brought the star of Beverly Hills Cop, a supermodel, and the best point guard ever, along with him to the time of Ramses the Great. One of the anecdotes creating and making the video for «Conmigo» was during the general production of this song, it took them about two weeks, but as time went by, they added new ideas and polished it appropriately. In the video recording, they had to fight against the weather, against the Medellín peak and plate, and other factors that got out of hand. Anyway, each member of the team injected him with the best energy, and they managed to bring out this great production in a quite different environment than what urban music has accustomed us. Rhythm Couture artists questions and answers: In 2009, Rafi went to see a Flamenco show in LA and fell in love with that style. He wanted to surround himself in that culture and hear as much of that music as he could! So he went home and booked a flight to Seville Spain and decided to go study flamenco guitar out there. For 3 Years he went back and forth to Spain each time for periods of 6 to 7 months to Study the flamenco guitar in Seville, and he immersed himself in that music and lifestyle fully. In the end he decided not to take the traditional path. He felt that his calling was to continue with the electric guitar and to incorporate the things that he had learned into his own music doing it his way. Rafi still continues to go to Spain for inspiration and to perform there as well on occasion.
